Alafiu.

Alafiu. That's what Angelo's get-well-letter to me said :) Such a sweetie. (btw. alafiu means I love you. But he's 6 and can only spell in German.)

And my ear? It's all good. I have a new smaller bandage, and you can see the stiches :) and there is oozing but apparantly that's normal. And my hair is starting to grow back wehre they shaved me, so in a couple of months it's gonna look really awkward, and I know we're all looking forward to that.

So I suck at updating this thing.

I have surgery on Thursday; the insurance lady at the hospital just told me there's a problem with my insurance company because their policy states that they pay for accidents. And apparantly my ear isn't messed up because of an accident. Soo, we'll see how that goes.

In other news, tonight I answered the telephone successfully! Yes, this is in fact a feat, because pepole who call either speak Spanish or German (or Swiss-German which I understand even less of than German), and usually it ends up with a really awkward silence from me, and telling them to call back later. But tonight, I took a message!
"Bring the lawn mower and banana platter to Cieneguilla."
Apparantly we have a banana platter.

And now, finally an adventure!

We got robbed. Well, Tamara and I. The four of us volunteers, Tamara, Judith, Andrea, and I were on the bus to La Punta to take a boat to see the sea lions, when all of the sudden this dude catapults from the back of the bus, rips Tamara's bag from her hands, somehow makes his way out of the bus, and sprints down the street of Colón. Stupid man! It wasn't that bad for me, I only had like a hundred soles in Tam's bag, but she had her camera and VISA card. Then a lady on the bus started yelling at us for being white foreigners and how it's our own fault that we got robbed and that we should have taken a taxi. Taxi's are expensive, and we're volunteers with no money. But this super nice couple got off with us and took us to a pay phone where Tam could call her mom, and then we went to the police. The police -- they wouldn't help us because the robbery didn't happen in "their area". But the nice couple talked to them and got them to drive us to another police station (got to ride in a police car, oh yeah). There they took us down to the basement to an interrogation-like place, because that's apparantly where they write their "reports" or whatever. I don't know. We told what happened, what was stolen etc.; Mr. Police Man wrote it all down on an A4 paper. I asked them what they were going to do now and they said they were going to go look for the man. Blue shirt with the sleeves cut off, tattoo on his right arm, stubble, and a slight double chin. When that whole ordeal was over we took a taxi to Plaza San Miguel and ate at McDonalds, and then ate ice cream.
So... yeah. Adventure. Tadaaah! But no, mean people make me angry. Then again, I feel really sorry for the guy because he felt the need to steal. Maybe his family reeeaaally needed money. I don't know.

HEY!

Hey. It's been a while. At the beginning of this blog, I was super ambitious and I was like "I'm gonna update every day and write super deep thoughts and tell of awesome adventures!" But, well, yeah.

In other news, I now have a chronic (i like italics btw) ear infection. Meaning that my whole inner ear is filled with pus and the pressure of it all could break the bone between my ear and brain, giving me brain damage. So I took a tomography on Friday and on Monday we get the scans and can see how bad it is. I was freeeaking out so bad, because I didn't have the money for all of this, plus an eventual surgery on top of it all, but God is awesome. We found out about this Monday afternoon after which I write some frantic emails, and on Tueseday morning my wonderful mommy calls me telling that she made some phone calls and my insurance covers everything. Plus everything I've already payed for the medecine and doctor appointments. Oh heck yes. So everything worked out eventually -- there were some communication difficulties because the insurance company is in Denmark and so when they called to talk to me I couldn't understand them because, well, Danish. But it's all worked out, thankyou God.
